You Know You're a Public Health Major When...

...you are playing Taboo and the clue is "when you travel you get____"
and yell "a plague!" when the real answer is a passport.

OK, so probably only I think this is funny, but that's honestly what came to my mind.

A little paranoid

My apartment got new couches this week and it somehow became my job to get rid of all the old stuff. I decided to put it on craigslist because my sister did that and got rid of her couch the next day. I've gotten about 20 emails from random people with varying degrees of gramatical correctness. I have to say I am a little paranoid about emailing complete strangers my address and phone number. They could be the next craigslist killer and I am at home waiting to let them in so they can take the silly couches away. I try not to give out too much personal info on the internet so I'll be happy when this is all over. Maybe Marissa will let me borrow her pepper spray...

Yay Me!

I found out today that I will have some sort of paid internship this summer. (Big sigh of relief right here). It will start the beginning of June. It's through the Summer Stimulus Internship Program paid for by the stimulus bill by President Obama. I'm not sure yet what I'll be doing but my ideal would be working at the Utah County Health Department. It would then also count as the internship I have to complete for my program and I would be getting PAID. Unheard of in public health. I am stoked to be able to be productive this summer. Thank you President Obama!

I love home

I decided to zip (I wish, 10 hour drive) on up to Washington this weekend to visit my family for one day and it was conveniently timed with mother's day. I hadn't been home since Christmas and even though I saw my family during Stephen's graduation it was so rushed I couldn't enjoy it. I'm really glad I decided to come home because it's been rejuvenating! I so needed to get out of Provo.

Reasons why I like Washington:
1. No mountains. While I enjoy the Wasatch Mts. in Utah, I feel a little claustrophobic sometimes. It's more open here which means I get to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
2. Great weather. We have almost 300 sunny days a year.
3. Less people than the greater Provo/Orem area. This means less traffic.
4. My own room.
5. A lawn. I laid on it today just to chill.
6. It's not in the "bubble."
7. It reminds me why I don't want to be at home all summer.
8. Peace and Quiet.
9. Friends.
10. Family.
Totally worth 10 hours in the car. I head back to Utah tomorrow.
