November is going to blow my mind

I am so freaking excited for events this November I can't even explain. There is so much goodness to go around. Let me tell you chronologically.

November 3rd-First paycheck from new job. I earned it.

November 6th-Baptism date at the Columbia River Temple, haven't been in such a long time. It will be fantastic.

November 11th-Veteran's Day. Also, my first day off of work. I know, three weeks on the job and already I'm looking for time off. Let's just say it's been really stressful learning everything and I will enjoy a whole day off in the middle of the week.

November 15th-Cd release date of Josh Groban's Illuminations and Take That's Progress. This means a Josh Groban tour 2011!!! (BTW for those of you who don't know Take That-they were a boy band in the UK in the early 90's. They fought and disbanded around 1996. Around 2006 they got back together minus one member and recorded a single for the movie Stardust. That got them going again and they have released two albums since then. They haven't done too well in the USA but are extremely successful in the UK. Gary Barlow, the lead singer and writer of a lot was selected the best british songwriter of all time ahead of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. And has also been selected to organize Queen Elizabeth's Diamond (?) jubilee that's next year or something. I actually like their more recent stuff more than their 90's stuff. It's just funny though because it would be the equivalent of N'SYNC reforming and going back on tour in their 40's. But seriously, it's good music). Also, I'm a little nervous for Josh Groban. He seems to have gone more Pop/Folksy on his new cd, I hope I like it. I already enjoy the Portugese one.

November 19th-HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS MOVIE RELEASE. I'm not going to the midnight showing. I fell asleep at the last one and I need to be able to be awake at work the next day. So I'll go on Friday. The trailers look sooooooo good. I get all worked up whenever I watch them. I predict they will start with Dumbledore's death, or go back in a flashback. And I also predict the movie will end before they head back to Hogwarts for the last horcruxes. I just don't know if I can watch Dobby die. He was the first death in book 7 that made me cry. Also, I need to get me a HP T-shirt. Hmmm.

November 20th-Sara Bareilles concert. So it's two hours away in Spokane but I think it will totally be worth it. I try to listen to other stuff on my iPod or iTunes right now but I always come back to Sara. I'm still trying to get peeps together so we'll see how this goes.

November 24th-Jillian comes home for Thanksgiving, (maybe even the day before).

November 25th-Thanksgiving. Day of Thanks and Feasting. This year could be interesting with a cousin visiting from the military and a Canadian. I love food so much.

November 26th-Day after Thanksgiving. Black Friday Sales. First day to listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas movies. 

November 27th-Jillian's 21st birthday. Partying and going to the DOL to get the horizontal driver's license.

four things I really dig

1. Jason Mraz-he has a new EP out "Life is Good" with three new songs, love the song "Up" and it's allusions to the Great Glass Elevator from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Also, what can't he do? On this one he does a do-wop "Build Me Up Buttercup." One of my new life goals is to see him live. IT WILL BLOW MY MIND.

2. Pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Yes! It's that time of year. And this time I didn't even have to make it. My mom did. And I get it all to myself.

3. Sara Bareilles-Her new album "Kaliedescope Heart" is wonderful. I love her 'piano-stomp' style and I can't get enough of her song "Uncharted." Also, she did a cover of Beyonce's Single Ladies, it's a little different, but so cool! Just give yourself a second to warm up to it and you will enjoy it as much as I do. Trust me. I'm still trying to decide if I should go see her in Spokane in November, because it would be great. But I need a concert buddy.

4. Wedding dresses with pockets. Not that I'm in the market or anything. But I really appreciate all dresses/skirts with pockets on them. It will totally make me want to buy them.

big werds

Twice this week I have been called out on using big words. In my opinion, they weren't that big of a deal. In one instance I used the word "sequestered" in telling a story about my friend in the third grade and how she was "sequestered" to make her work faster and not get distacted by the other students. Everyone I was with was like, wow, good word, 'sequestered.' Well, it was a good word to describe the situation. Another time I was at this activity and I went to go play rock band with some kids I didn't know. I sat down to play the guitar and mentioned, "I'm not very 'adept' at this." This kid looks at me somewhat befuddled and asks, "did you just use the word 'adept'?" Yes. Yes I did.

I don't get it. Do I sound snobbish when I use these kinds of words? I didn't think they were that hard. Also, I read a lot, so I have a pretty large vocabulary. And I did go to and graduate from college. So that means I'm kind of licensed to use those big words I used back when "Is goed to kollige." I just find it rather amusing. I didn't really realize I spoke like that.

I was doing just fine. I wasn't homesick for Provo. But I looked through my roommate's photo album online and it made me miss all my P-town peeps a ton. Looking at them having all that fun together. My life is a lot slower now. Just know that I miss you all a lot. A lot.

you might say I've jumped the gun

but I love Christmas music. Today I told my mom we get to listen to it soon, and she gave me a look and said, yeah in a couple months. You may ask why can't I just go listen to it now...In my house we have a strict no Christmas music or movies until after Thanksgiving. I appreciate this rule, it keeps the special things special and I don't get tired of them. But as I was organizing my iTunes today I decided I needed to be prepared and make a Christmas playlist. This involved going through all 3,000+ songs in my library and adding them to the list. I'm super stoked. I have all the classics. And by that I mean 'N SYNC's Home for the Holidays cd. (Also Bing Crosby and Mo Tab-my parents raised me well). But I also have Michael Bolton, Gloria Estefan and other more modern people. Also, Josh Groban's Noel is one of the best Christmas cds ever. Ever. I'm also excited for some new ones that I didn't get to listen to too much last year because I found them after Christmas. They include Kenny Loggins "Celebrate Me Home," Elton John's "Step Into Christmas," the Eagles "Please Come Home for Christmas," and Dan Fogleberg's "Old Lang Syne." Listening to Christmas music just makes me so happy.

What is my all-time favorite? I have to admit, it's Wham!'s "Last Christmas." Yep. At least of all the newer Christmas music anyway. The music video is even better than I hoped for. And yes, I don't have a life.
